Ladera Ranch, CA – Former California State Senator Patricia Bates today announced her endorsement of Matt Gunderson in the race for California’s 49th Congressional District.
“The 49th Congressional District needs someone with real-life business experience who can reduce inflation, create jobs, and get our economy back on track,” said Bates. “Matt Gunderson is the clear choice for the 49th Congressional District.”
Prior to her election as the area’s representative in the California State Senate, Pat Bates served as the first Mayor of Laguna Niguel, was elected to the State Assembly, and was on the Orange County Board of Supervisors. In the State Senate, Bates was selected by her colleagues as Senate Minority Leader.
Bates’ endorsement adds to an impressive list of local leaders who have announced their support for businessman Gunderson in the early weeks of his campaign, including former California State Assembly Republican Minority Leader Martin Garrick, 2022 Republican nominee for Controller Lanhee Chen, former Congresswoman Mimi Walters, and all three Republican members of the State Assembly within the 49th Congressional District.
“Our communities are in trouble,” Gunderson said. “From persistent inflation to skyrocketing crime, local families are worse off due to the failed policies of Mike Levin. Senator Bates knows I’ll stand up to the politicians who have created this mess, and I am honored to have her endorsement.”
