Matt Gunderson Opposes Rep. Mike Levin’s Vote to Ban Gas Stoves

Rep. Mike Levin stood with radical wing of his party in vote to ban gas stoves

Oceanside, CA – Matt Gunderson, Republican candidate for Southern California’s 49th Congressional District, increased his criticism of Democrat Congressman Mike Levin for supporting a ban on gas stoves this month.

“Nearly 40% of all households rely on gas stoves to put food on the table, but Mike Levin chose to stand with the most progressive wing of his party to eliminate more than 50% of gas stoves nationally,” said Gunderson. “It’s unthinkable that the 49th District’s current representative, Mike Levin, supports such a radical position.”

Congressman Mike Levin surprised many with his vote to ban gas stoves this month, placing him firmly in the most radical and progressive wing of his party.
The bipartisan vote on HR 1615, titled the “Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act” saw 29 Democrats join with all Republican members of Congress to pass the bill.

187 million Americans use natural gas, which is over three times more affordable than electricity. Levin’s push to ban gas stoves is the latest in a long line of progressive policies he’s supported. Just months after being elected, Levin co-sponsored the Green New Deal along with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
